ALL USA SCHOOLS may participate in the 2023-24 Challenge
To streamline the 10 Day Film Challenge and have it be a sustainable, yearly Challenge, below is the NEW process
beginning with the 2023-24 school year.
beginning with the 2023-24 school year.
- ALL USA SCHOOLS MAY REGISTER - Sign Up to Compete (NJ will be its own Challenge. All other USA schools will be combined into their own Challenge)
- All the competition RULES as it pertains to the making of the films, remain the same
- Students will create a YouTube Thumbnail for their film (see the bottom of the RULES page)
- On Day 10, teachers must ensure the film is finished by 4pm (and uploaded the next day by the teacher with no edits)
- Teachers are responsible for their own DISQUALIFICATION of films for breaking any rules, namely missing required elements, profanity, guns, wielding knives as weapons, licensed music, and any scenes in a film that are not PG-13 and acceptable for a school viewing or a school project. TEACHERS WILL HAVE 7 DAYS after Day 10 to notify the 10 Day Film Challenge about DQ's of their own films.
- MOVIE THEATER SCREENING DAY - None. Consider it now to be a "virtual screening day" at your own school.
- VIRTUAL SCREENING DAY - A YouTube Playlist of no more than 30 films (2 hours max.) will be released to teachers on this day approximately 3 weeks after Day 10. Teachers are strongly encouraged to organize their own screening event in their own school for their own students. Teachers may play these films for their students at any time on that given day. (Suggestion: Book your auditorium to project the films from our YouTube playlist. It could be a nice "assembly" for all of your students.)
- AWARDS - There will be a Teacher's Choice Award (for "Best Film") voted on BY THE TEACHERS once we've released the YouTube Playlist of "Top" films. This "vote" will happen on the "virtual screening" day. That is the ONLY day this vote will happen.
- AWARDS - There will be awards for BEST USE OF PROP, LINE, GENRE and CHARACTER. Also voted on BY THE TEACHERS on virtual screening day. That is the ONLY day this vote will happen. Since the use of these required elements is unique to the 10 Day, it only seems right to focus on them and award the film(s) for their creative and impactful use.
- One film from each school will be screened on the VIRTUAL SCREENING DAY, except for rules disqualifications.
- AWARDS - NO awards are given out by or from the 10 Day Film Challenge specifically. It's all TEACHER VOTES on VIRTUAL SCREENING DAY.
- The Challenge is moving away from a "competition" to more of an "exhibition" of films. The 10 Day Film Challenge "community" will be the ones recognizing students and their films for their efforts. That should be the expectation of all students and teachers when signing up.
