Screening Day  - How it works

Screening Day: Statewide Challenges Only

After all your students' hard work, their films we be screened at a real theatre! BASED ON YOUR STATE...The screening generally begins around 10 am.  Doors generally open at approximately 9:00 am. Due to limited seating, this is NOT open to the general public.  This is an INVITATION only event.  The classroom teachers will be notified of the number of invitations they will have access to based on the number of students attending the event.

How many films will be screened at the theatre?  The answer: Approximately 30 films (not a firm number).  All films will be submitted and the 10 Day Film Challenge will judge the films. Then, the Challenge will notify those filmmakers whose films will appear at the official screening.  Unfortunately, due to time constraints, not every film created can be screened at the theatre.

Prior to the screening day at the theatre, all films and film posters will be judged by independent judges and be named award winners in a variety of categories.

Awards and award certificates will be given for: Best Use of Character, Best Use of Line, Best Use of Prop, Best Screenplay, Best Use of Music, Best Poster, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Acting, Audience Choice, Best Special Effects, Best Title Sequence, Best Use of Cinematic Technique, and Best Sound.

Of course, BEST OVERALL FILM is the ultimate prize.  The winning team will receive the 10 Day Film Challenge trophy that can be displayed at the winning team's school.
